dave stadlerDave is a founding partner of Paean Private Equity. He was head of Nedbank Private Equity, having previously established BoE NatWest Equity Partners, the private equity division of BoE NatWest. With more than 27 years investment banking experience, Dave has led many of Nedbank's and BoE's investments. Dave has broad experience across a wide range of sectors both domestically and internationally and has served on the boards of directors of a number of investee companies. Dave is a chartered accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town.

Bruce joined Maitland in 2011 to start and head up the Private Equity and Real Estate Fund Administration team. He has more than 25 years of experience in real estate and investment banking, predominantly in the UK with his involvement extending from business development through to executive management.

Prior to joining Maitland, Bruce was Executive Director at JP Morgan Private Equity Fund Services in Jersey, responsible for the real estate product; and before that he was Head of Real Estate Fund Administration at Mourant International Finance Administration, responsible for their Jersey, Guernsey, Luxembourg and London teams.

john bellewJohn Bellew is a partner in the Corporate Business Unit at Webber Wentzel.
He specialises in all aspects of private equity, including fund formation, merger and acquisition (M&A) activity, management arrangements and acquisition finance. He also has public market merger and acquisition experience and has advised on a number of listings.

John has advised prominent South African and international private equity houses on some of the largest private equity transactions undertaken in the South African market. He has represented private equity borrowers and high yield lenders, and has formed a number of private equity funds with a focus on South and sub-Saharan Africa. In recent times he has been involved, on behalf of the industry body SAVCA, in various lobbying activities, especially in regard to pension fund participation in private equity funds, taxation and exchange control.

Vantage Capital

Warren is a Chartered Accountant and Chief Financial Officer of the Vantage Capital Group. Vantage Capital is a South Africa-based firm that specializes in mezzanine debt, renewable energy debt, debt capital markets and corporate senior debt transactions throughout Africa. Vantage Capital manages two mezzanine debt funds, a renewable energy senior debt fund, a technology fund and has a debt capital markets advisory business. Vantage has assets under management of over R4.5bn.
Warren served articles at the University of Witwatersrand and Arthur Andersen before starting his banking career with Standard Bank.
He spent six years at Standard Bank where he successfully concluded a number of corporate debt and leveraged finance transactions, before joining Vantage Capital in 2007.

erikaErika van der Merwe is CEO of the South African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA), a non-profit member organisation whose objective is to promote venture capital and private equity in South Africa. It has around 100 members, who collectively account for about R130bn in assets under management.

Erika holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) accreditation and has a master's degree in economics from Cambridge University and from the former University of Natal.
She joined the board of the CFA SA Society in 2012.

altonAlton is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a post graduate diploma in Auditing from UNISA. He qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst in June 2007.
Alton completed his articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2001. He then joined Shoprite Checkers where he was responsible for financial reporting on and monitoring of a number of African Countries. In March 2002 he joined the Industrial Development Corporation where he worked in the Techno Industries Business Unit.

Alton joined SPE in May 2005 and on 01 January 2012 was appointed CEO of SPE. As CEO, Alton is responsible for the investment strategy of the business and custodian of the R3 billion investment portfolio. His responsibilities include leading of and assistance in transactions from identification, initiation, negotiations, closing, monitoring investments and exit thereof. Alton serves on the board of the Southern African Venture Capital Association, and of various other companies.
